Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co-ordination (IPC) has withdrawn its petition against chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf.
Two-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Saqib Nisar Khan and comprising Justice Ijaz Afzal Khan headed the government plea against restoration of Zaka Ashraf by Islamabad High Court.
According to details, on Friday, Justice Saqib Nisar in his observation mentioned that the government is permitted by law to take any necessary action according to constitution of the country.
Justice Saqib also said that if any executive has the authority to remove the PCB chairman, it can do so, the court will not interfere in the matter. The lawyer of the ministry Asima Jahangir said the court should give any observation over the matter as the people who briefed her on the matter are scared.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Zaka Ashraf said that he wants to consult Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the issue of the ‘Big 3’.
During a news conference in Lahore on Friday, Zaka Ashraf told reporters that under the new formula the role of three nations had been enhanced and assurances had been given that Pakistan’s role would not be decreased.
The PCB chief added that Bangladesh had seen its benefit when supporting the ‘Big 3’.
According to Ashraf, consultations with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is the patron-in-chief of the PCB were necessary over the ‘Big 3’ issue.
Zaka Ashraf further said the PCB wanted all boards to work together as chasing money would result in cricket being ruined.
