Firing incident claims eight lives in Karachi

At least eight people, including a minor girl, were killed and 11 others wounded when gunmen on motorbikes opened fire at an Aastana on Sunday.

The attack took place in Baldia Town No 12. According to SSP West Irfan Baloch, unidentified motorcycle riders attacked Pir Meherban Shah’s monastery at Baldia Town number 12 with hand grenade followed by a shooting spree which resulted in killing of eight people including a girl while another eleven were brutally wounded.

Those injured have been transferred to Civil Hospital. According to Dr. Aftab, MLO of Civil Hospital, six of those killed in the attack have been identified as Dilbar, Nazir, Essa, Zainab, Moin and Sajjad.

The Aastana was located inside the hosue of a retired police officer.
Ten people, including women, are also reported to have been injured in the attack in Baldia Town.

According to initial reports, six gunmen wearing helmets on motorcycles opened indiscriminate firing after hurling a hand grenade in Baldia-12 near the resident of a spiritual healer and fled, leaving almost 12 people injured, including women.

The injured have been rushed to Civil Hospital, out of which four are said to be in critical condition. Nearly 36 rounds of 9MM pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

Meanwhile the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has denied responsibility for the attack.
