February to be Rainy, Snowy

ISLAMABAD, Jan 31 (APP): Four rain spells expected in the month of February,according to the weather experts, would break the prevailing dry spell in the country alongwith cold wave gripping most parts. The country has not witnessed any significant rain during the current season of Winter and now good rains with snowfall over the hills are expected during this month. A new weather system would develop over Iran during the next 24 hours which would break the prevailing dry spell in the country.This weather system is likely to approach Pakistan during this weekend and produce good rain in various parts of the country along with snow over the hills.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the first week of February would receive good rains with snowfall over the hills.
Scattered rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in Balochistan on Saturday and Sunday.
Widespread rain is expected in upper Punjab including Rawalpindi, Sargodha,Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Lahore divisions, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad from Saturday evening to Monday.
Good snowfall is also expected over the hills of Murree, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Malakand and Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Sunday and Monday.
Heavy snowfall may occur over the hills of Galliyat and Neelum Valley during the period.
The barani areas of wheat crop may receive good rain during the period which would prove as beneficial for the crops.
The rain would also help increase water in the reservoirs and give relief to the citizens suffering from various diseases due to dry spell.
The lowest minimum temperatures recorded at the morning time on Friday were Skardu -13 C, Gupis -07 C, Astore -06 C, Parachinar -03 C, Kalat, Hunza -02 C and Rawalakot -01 C.
The minimum temperatures recorded in the other cities during the last 24 hours were Islamabad 05 C, Lahore 08 C, Karachi 12 C, Peshawar 05 C, Quetta 04 C, Murree 02 C, Muzaffarabad 04 C, Gilgit 00 C, Faisalabad 08 C, Multan 09 C and Hyderabad 13 C.
