CJP takes notice of Pakistani detainees in Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani on Thursday took suo moto notice of around 3000 Pakistani nationals in Saudi detention centres.

A Pakistani national namely Ali Khan sent an email to the human rights centre of the Supreme Court and informed about the plight other Pakistanis detained at the deportation centre of Saudi Arabia for last three months.

The complainant informed the court that some Pakistani’s also died during detention but the Foreign Ministry did take any step to resolve their issue. According to the statement issued by the Supreme Court it has been said in the e-mail that over 3000 Pakistanis have been detained in a detention centre of Jeddah by the Saudi authorities for sending them back to Pakistan but many of them have been killed in the detention centre.

It has been said in the e-mail that the Pakistani embassy has to prepare the documents of these Pakistanis for sending them to Pakistan but the Embassy is not taking the matter seriously, due to which the people are facing problems.

The CJP, taking suo moto notice of the letter, summoned a report from Foreign Secretary within a week. After submission of report the court will hear the matter.
